Fitness

Swimming is not only easy on the body, it's also a great way to get fit. Swimming recruits all the major muscle groups, including the shoulders, back, abdominals, legs, hips and flutes. Since water affords 12 times the resistance as air, it really helps to build strength. Many do swimming as a way to stay healthy and improve or maintain their cardiovascular fitness.

Lose weight

Swimming is an excellent all-round aerobic and muscle conditioning sport especially weight loss due to the buoyancy given by the water. When swimming breaststroke or backstroke, the same amounts of calories are being burnt like walking or jogging slowly. The more vigorous the exercise, the more calories are being burnt.

As a lifestyle

The reason why many people buy a condominium, club memberships etc is because there is a swimming pool, where you have a chance to swim. Water is considered very calm and soothing and just by looking at it can have very huge effects on relaxing oneself.
